Today after we finished up wiring we started to clean up the inside of the case. We cleaned it up by organizing all of the wires and bunched them together and tied them together with a lot of zip ties. :)

Today in class, instead of typing everything out to explain it, we're just going to video the whole thing and explain it on the video as we go.

CPU

Today we are putting in the CPU. We first have to take off the cover and lay the compujter on it's side. Then read the directions to put in the CPU and tell Mr. Kelley where we think the CPU should go. We have to pull the lever down then out, then take off the plastic cover off the place where the CPU goes. Next we take out the CPU, making sure we don't put our fingers on the ball points. Then we place it in the CPU holder. Now we have to put in the heat sync. We have to line it up with the holes around the CPU and make sure the cord can reach the CPU fan. Then once we do that we can have click the screws in. When we hear that there is a click then we now they are locked in. Last we can plug in the CPU fan cord.

Now we are going to put a RAM in. We have to make sure we touch the sides of the case when we put it in. We are putting it in the first slot. We have to un-click the sides of the holder. Then we push it in and click the sides back in.

Now we put the case back together and clean everything up :)

We took the computer case out of its box and removed the sides. We are putting the motherboard in today. We put the Io in. There is a lip that needs to be put in from the inside of the computer to make it stay. We also had to make sure the mouse and keyboard plug-ins were at the top. We removed the tray for the motherboard [we unscrewed the screws to remove it]. We had a difficult time getting one of our screws out. We put the special screws in that make it so the motherboard doesn't touch the case. Now we're figuring out which screws to use to screw the motherboard in so it doesn't fall out when we flip the computer upright.

Today we are installing the CD-Rom and the hard drive. First we unscrewed the cover plate for the CD Rom, then put it in the slot and latched and screwed it in. Now we are putting in the hard drive, unlatch the fan to remove and screw in hard drive to the fan. Now reconnect the fan and hard drive back into place.

Today we got are computer case and we are checking it for dents and or broking parts. We also had to out the power supply in the case. We are having difficulties finding out where to put the power supply. We figured it out in like 3 mins. we took pictures too!!

Today Mr. Kelley talked about how are brains are wired to do certain things like a computer. Then Mr. Kelley showed us an old mother board and explained some of the things that are on it. The battery in the computer is to remember the date when you turn the computer on and off. Then he showed us a hard drive and explained how it worked.

Taking apart the Computer II

Today we took apart the other side of the computer. Well took out the RAM, video card, the side of the computer that was on the chips side. Some other stuff we took off were: CPU (besides the mother board is the most important part of the computer), now we take mother board out, there should be a latch to make the whole mother board come out. The mother board is like a city it has lots of different things to do different things that make the computer run. Now reverse order to put back together. We had some problems with the CPU because the thing that it was on broken! We also had to use the tools to take this side apart, where on the other side we didn't need to use tools.

Today in class Mr Kelley talked about rebates and how they work. Now we are starting to take apart teh Gateway computer case.
first we took of the top cover, then the front cover, we took out the cd rom next and then mr kelley talked aboutu teh ribbons. when mr kelley finished talking we took out teh floppy drive. then mr kelley started talking again. now we took out teh hard drive. class is over so we have to put everything back in the case and go to social studies in Mrs Bowdens class.
